Dr. Sarah Marzke
Veterinarian/Owner, Topaz Veterinary Clinic
Dr. Marzke grew up in Tempe, Arizona and decided she wanted to be a veterinarian in first grade. She then attended Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts in 1996 and was awarded the American Animal Hospital Association Senior Student Award for Proficiency in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery. Following graduation, Dr. Marzke completed an intensive one year internship in small animal medicine, surgery, emergency, and critical care at Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital in California. She then moved back to Tempe, Arizona with Dr. Berthiaume in 1997 and they have been practicing here ever since. In 2013, Dr. Marzke completed the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society acupuncture training, bringing integrative veterinary medicine to Topaz Veterinary Clinic. From 2015-2017 Dr. Marzke served as an adjunct faculty member at Midwestern University School of Veterinary Medicine where she enjoyed being involved with teaching veterinary students. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association (AzVMA), the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS), and the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture (AAVA). Dr. Kerri Bourne
Veterinarian
Dr. Bourne lived in several states before moving to Phoenix at the age of 12. At a young age her sister said, "You should be a vet, you really understand Charbon (the family's poodle)". The seed was planted. Dr. Bourne obtained her undergraduate degree in Animal Health Sciences from the University of Arizona. During her college years she worked in multiple veterinary hospitals as a technician. There she gained insight and experience in the veterinary field. In 1994 she graduated from Colorado State University with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. She returned to the valley and has practiced in small animal medicine ever since. Although she enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, she has a special interest in behavior. Her goal is to make each veterinary visit as stress-free as possible (even getting on the floor with patients!). She is a member of the the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association (AzVMA). She and her husband live in Phoenix with their 2-legged and 4-legged children.
